Travels in China - Shanghai, Part I

As I mentioned here a couple months back, HWMBO had a truly fantastic visit to the exotic Orient in the Spring.  What I may not have mentioned is that his trip resulted in "jillions" of photos documenting his travels.  I am the fortunate beneficiary of these and would like to share some of them here.

The visit to China began, after a LONG flight from Dulles Airport to Shanghai, via Tokyo and various stops in between.  But HWMBO, who is always one to shake off jet lag when new vistas are on the agenda, was ready and raring to go.  The road signs themselves were a new experience
but, having decided that the prudent course was simply to let the bus driver make his way to their destination, HWMBO and the others not only managed to arrive
but to find the Shanghai Museum ready for their visit.
The museum's exhibits were fascinating, with artifacts in terra cotta, such as the Chinese warrior on horseback featured here,
and others in bronze, such as the funerary bells featured here,
along with exhibits featuring Chinese calligraphy
antique porcelaine,
and a fishing boat - a reminder of long-standing Chinese seafaring peoples.
The museum itself is extensive and modern.
And, at the end of their first busy day, the group was more than ready to sample some delicious Chinese cuisine.
This was just the beginning ....
