We just received the news this morning, although the event itself occurred yesterday. Sweet Momma H's C-section scheduled for 9 November will not happen. That is because Prince Tyger officially became a "Big Brother" yesterday afternoon, 5 November 2010, around 15:00 EST! And here is the newest little one!
The brand-new baby brother, whom I will call Prince Attani - for the moment at least - looked a LOT like Big Bro Prince Tyger did when he first arrived in the world on 8 September 2008. Here is Prince Tyger as he appeared then, together with his very proud Papa Big T. Big T reports that the newest arrival has just as much hair as Big Bro did!
"Attani" comes from the Arabic "Al-Thani" (the Second One). The "th" sound in this word is generally pronounced "t" in the Moroccan dialect. The definite article "al" takes on the sound of the following "t" in the spoken language. So for pronunciation convenience, I am using "Attani." "Prince Attani" literally means "Second Prince." Here Prince Attani poses, all unaware of the fuss about him, with Papa and Sweet Momma H.
Vital statistics for the newest Prince: he weighed in at 6 lbs, 12 oz (2.72 kg), and was 19 3/4 in (50.165 cm) long. We will have to wait for a month to see him in person, although we will certainly be in touch before then via the wonders of Skype video.
Sweet Momma H looks great after her earlier-than-expected ordeal. Her maternity leave officially began only yesterday - just in the nick of time! Congratulations to all!
Updated after conversation with Proud Papa Big T and Prince Tyger: The C-section had been rescheduled to 5 November, after all, so the event was more a surprise to those of us who hadn't gotten news of the rescheduling than it was to anyone else involved. We are very happy that all went well. Sweet Momma H and Prince Attani - my own temporary name for the new arrival whose actual name is still being decided - are now resting at the hospital while Big T and Prince Tyger are "batching" it at home.
While he has only seen photos of Baby Brother so far, the Tyger assured me that a) he was happy that he had a new baby brother and b) he would share his toys with the new baby brother. His father suspects that those assurances may have been given only to reassure Proud Grandmom. Ah well, only time will tell!
