Sights and Seasons

Today was yet another spectacularly beautiful day.  As I was biking around my rural neighborhood, I took a few snapshots.  Here, for example, was the center of Céligny,

its small school,

and its tiny temple.

These gorgeous dairy cattle were clearly enjoying the sunshine

and lazily scratching themselves on the hapless trees nearby.

In fact, soon this herd of cattle will be gathered together with others to move up to their summer mountain pastures in the Jura near Saint-Cergue, much as Friend G and I saw a group of cattle being driven to their alpine summer pastures near Champagny-en-Vanoise, France early in June 2010.

In fact, as I recall, those cows were so intent on getting to their pasture that they nearly trampled us!

The Swiss cows seem slightly more sedate.  After they do leave us, we won't see them around here again until October, after their return from their "summer vacation."

In the meantime, we can all rejoice in these beautiful moments.
