My young summer visitors wanted to travel to France during their third weekend in Europe. They had, after all, spent most of their second weekend in Venice and the subsequent week studying hard in Switzerland. So, it was time for a change. I mentioned to them that it was time for the monthly Antiques Market in nearby - and beautiful - Annecy, France. So yes, Annecy was a go for them.
For some reason, I missed the turn to my usual parking spot and so we parked in the City Hall parking, making our way from there into the Old City of Annecy
to find the Antiques Market set up along the main canal,
bridges
and also along sidestreets.
Both girls happily browsed through the wares.
Here, Niece B discusses the purchase of a rare book
among several posted in the stall.
Ultimately, she did not purchase the book. But still, there were many sights to see and many antiques for sale, such as furniture,
old stoves
and even a bust of Napoleon Bonaparte, surrounded by crockery
and antique scales.
With all this wandering around, the girls developed an appetite, so we stopped for lunch at a crêperie and
had a very refreshing respite.
Looks like wonderful fun in a beautiful place. I will be there in September for the monthly antique show.
