Holiday interlude

Today is the anniversary of the declaration of independence of the nation now known as the United States of America.  AK Muckraker has an especially appropos post today with several choice quotations from some who were instrumental in the founding of the USA - quotations that all too often seem to be forgotten in the politician and media-created polarization of groups within this fractious nation.  I would encourage all to read all of them here.

Happy Independence Day to you and yours!
I am posting the first two quotes cited by AK Muckraker here because they are very close to my own heart.  Not that the rest aren't ...

"Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security."  Benjamin Franklin

"My first wish is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth."  George Washington
